Website code: no tracking or browser storage

The website code does not set cookies, use local storage or session storage, run analytics, use tracking pixels, show advertising, load external fonts, embed third-party media, offer a newsletter or provide a contact form. No consent banner is used because the website code does not use consent-based tracking technologies.

Planned hosting through GitHub Pages

The website is planned to be hosted with GitHub Pages. When a browser requests a page, the hosting provider may process connection and request data needed to deliver and protect the service. Depending on the request, this can include an IP address, request date and time, requested resource, browser or device information and referrer information sent by the browser.

The purpose is reliable delivery, security, abuse prevention and technical operation. The intended legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in providing a secure, functional website. GitHub determines its own technical logging and retention practices; this notice does not claim an exact retention period. See theGitHub General Privacy Statement.

International transfers

GitHub is part of a group with operations in the United States. Hosting-provider processing may therefore involve access or transfers outside the European Economic Area. GitHub describes the transfer safeguards and frameworks it relies on in its privacy statement. The final hosting arrangement, applicable data-protection terms and transfer mechanism must be confirmed before deployment.

Email and phone enquiries

If you email or call, Be Deutsch processes the contact details, message content and any information you voluntarily provide in order to respond, manage the enquiry and resolve a support issue. Email is provided through STRATO. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry concerns a contract or steps before a contract, and otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on the legitimate interest in answering genuine enquiries and providing support.

Correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the enquiry and any applicable legal, security or record-keeping requirement. No exact STRATO retention period is asserted here. See the STRATO privacy information. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive personal information.

Recipients and processors

Website request data may be processed by GitHub as the planned hosting provider. Email data may be processed by STRATO as the email service provider. Data may also be disclosed where required by law or a binding request from a competent authority. Be Deutsch does not sell contact or website data and does not provide it to advertising or analytics services.

External links

This website can link to external services. No content from those services is embedded. Once you follow an external link, the destination provider is responsible for its own processing.

Your GDPR rights

Subject to the applicable conditions, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Where processing is based on consent, consent can be withdrawn for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, including in the EU member state of your habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.

B. Android app privacy

Be Deutsch A1 Foundations for Android

Package: com.bedeutsch.app · App-policy effective date: 3 October 2026

Summary

The app is designed to work offline and stores learning progress on the Android device. It does not require a Be Deutsch account, does not provide cloud sync and does not send learner progress to Be Deutsch servers.

Data stored locally on the device

The app may store:

  • onboarding and app settings;
  • lesson completion and resume position;
  • practice, quiz, checkpoint and review attempts;
  • answers, scores, feedback and mistake categories;
  • mistake-based review items and due dates; and
  • progress history used to display learning status and review activity.

This information is kept in the app's private local database and is used to provide progress, scoring, feedback, My Mistakes and review features on that device.

What the app does not provide or use

The current app has no accounts or sign-in, cloud sync, advertising identifiers, ads, subscriptions, in-app purchases, social or community features, messaging, user-generated content, AI tutor or AI conversation. It does not request microphone, camera, contacts, location or general file-library access and does not provide listening, speaking or pronunciation features. It contains no developer-operated analytics or crash-reporting SDK.

No transmission of learning records

The app does not transmit learning progress, answers, scores, review history or mistake data to Be Deutsch, an analytics provider, an advertising provider or a Be Deutsch cloud service.

Android backup and restore

Android backup is currently permitted. Depending on device settings and the Android or Google backup service, app-private data may be backed up or restored by the operating-system provider. That processing is controlled by the relevant platform or backup provider and its terms. Be Deutsch cannot access data in a user's platform backup.

Platform diagnostics

Android or Google Play may process platform diagnostics such as crash or application-not-responding reports under the user's device and Play settings and Google's policies. The app does not include a developer-operated crash-reporting SDK and does not directly transmit diagnostics to Be Deutsch.

Sharing or sale

Be Deutsch does not sell app data and does not share learning records with third parties. Platform backup or diagnostics may be handled by the device or platform provider as described above.

Retention and deletion

Local learning data remains on the device until app storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled. It can be deleted through Android Settings by opening the Be Deutsch app entry and clearing its storage, or by uninstalling the app. Clearing storage is irreversible on that installation. A platform backup provider may retain or later restore a backup according to its settings and policies. Because Be Deutsch keeps no server-side learner record, there is no Be Deutsch cloud record to request for deletion.

Support correspondence

If a user emails support, the sender address, message and any voluntarily included information are used to respond and resolve the request. Support correspondence is separate from the offline learning database and is retained only as reasonably necessary for the request and applicable legal or security needs. Users should not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.

Children

The app is a general language-learning product planned for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and Be Deutsch does not knowingly collect personal data from children through an app account or developer server because neither exists. The final Google Play target-audience settings must remain consistent with this policy before public release.

Security and changes

Local data is held in Android app-private storage and benefits from the device's Android sandbox and security settings, but no storage method is risk-free. Users should keep Android updated and use a secure screen lock. This policy will be updated if features such as accounts, cloud sync, analytics, ads, payments or other network services are introduced.
